I love Paris in the springtime....

London has been awarded the 2012 Olympic Games.

It has been noted that one of the key things in bid's favour was that British support was so visible during the course of the Athens games last summer.

Really, there's no need to thank me.

Bring it on!

Perhaps we can take this opportunity to bring some other worthy sports into the Olympic fold. Snooker, darts... that kind of thing.

I found out when a spontaneous cheer went up around the office. That's what it means to us 7 years away from the actual games themselves.

    Brilliant news.

    This makes me very happy.

I found out when my work colleague's husband phoned her up specifically to give her the news. Then I looked at the articles about it on the BBC website, and the descriptions and photos of the crowds in Trafalgar Square brought a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye. (Mind you, pretty much anything does these days.)

    Yay London!

When I heard the news today, I figured it was because they heard the "Ultimate Olympian" was British ;)

We spent a week and a bit in Athens last summer. We saw 3 French guys in the crowd. Once. I'm not sure why Paris wanted it. Of course the bad thing about London's win is that getting tickets has just got a whole lot more difficult. Maybe we can invent some security issue to scare the Yanks off. Worked in Greece.
