you come and go, you come and go...
Life's all about Yin and Yang, isn't it? They're the two primal opposing but complementary forces found in all things in the universe. For every up there has to be a down. For every head there has to be a tail. Light and dark, day and night.....all that kind of stuff. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together. Yin and Yang are what bring balance to the Force. Or something like that anyway....
Today I experienced a little piece of this all for myself.
Ying:- I lost my favourite scarf. It was an incredibly soft baby-blue coloured thing with a brown stripe at either end. I loved it dearly and I'm mortified that I can't find it anywhere. Boo!
Yang:- I put down a deposit on a new car. In a couple of months, I will be the proud owner of a Mini Cooper. It may be small and I may be big, but I like it. The final clincher on the deal was when a guy the same age as me drove past me at work the other day in a massive, brand spanking new BMW. I'm sure it's very nice and all that, but I just looked at him sat in it and realised that I'm just not that kind of guy. Maybe one day I will be, but right now I am apparently the kind of guy who drives a mini. Yay for me!
To add further Yang to counterbalance my terrible Ying, I should probably also add that C. has taken up knitting for the express purpose of making me a scarf in time for Christmas. So maybe it's all down to karma.
Or is that something else entirely?

Can you send C. over here to do kniting lessons? Some of my friends have decided that drinking and learning to knit are 2 activities that would go well together, and they're in search of a teacher. Perhaps in return one of them will knit you a baby blue scarf with brown stripes?

I have trouble knitting sober. If I tried to knit while drunk I'd probably stab myself. Or, in deference to A Christmas Story, I'd "put my eye out, kid." *G*

Right...
Your scarf goes missing the same week that C decides to knit you a scarf. Sounds a bit suspicious to me!
